Dr Sue Shepherd is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian with thirteen years’ experience, has coeliac disease herself, and in 2008, completed her PhD research into aspects of fructose malabsorption, coeliac disease, low FODMAP diets and irritable bowel syndrome. Sue developed the “low FODMAP diet” for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She has graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Promotion and post graduate Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics. Her expertise is recognised internationally and she has won numerous awards including the Dietitians Association of Australia Annual Award for Achievement for outstanding contribution to the profession, and Douglas Piper Young Investigator Award from the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.

Sue Shepherd
Kim Menzies
Kim graduated with a Bachelor of Education and post graduate Masters in both Health Science and Nutrition and Dietetics. Kim’s seven years of teaching home economics has provided her with immense food knowledge. Her experience as a dietitian has been both hospital-based and in the specialty area of gastrointestinal nutrition. Kim is the Senior Dietitian for Shepherd Works, and works from our Box Hill practice and runs the group education sessions.
Anna Kyriopoulos
Anna graduated with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics from Deakin University and has worked for several years in a hospital setting, including in the area of gastrointestinal nutrition. Anna has recently joined the Shepherd Works team and works from our Box Hill practice.
Eliza Jervis-Read
Eliza graduated with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics and a Bachelor of Science Nutrition. She has worked for many years in gastrointestinal nutrition in hospital based and private practice settings. Eliza has a strong interest in irritable bowel syndrome and incontinence and works at our Box Hill practice.
Emma Halmos
Emma is an Accredited Practising dietitian with many years’ experience in dietetics, and has recently completed her Master’s degree looking at FODMAPs in the diets of patients in hospital, and has her research published in an international medical journal. She has recently commenced her PhD research. Emma graduated with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics and works from our Box Hill practice.
Kate Lambe
Kate graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science/Health Science majoring in Food Science and Nutrition and a post graduate Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics (Hons). She has had vast clinical and community dietetics experience in Melbourne, Queensland, Western Australia and the Republic of Ireland, and has a real passion in the specialty area of gastrointestinal nutrition. Kate works from at our Box Hill and Bundoora practices.
Kim Canale
Kim graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) and post graduate Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics. She has been with the team at Shepherd Works for more than six years at our Box Hill practice, and has extensive experience in gastrointestinal nutrition in both private practice and research.
Lauren Kerr
Lauren graduated with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics and Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Science) from Deakin University and has had a long history of work in sports nutrition, weight loss and gastrointestinal conditions. Lauren has consulted to many food companies for menu formulation.
Lauren is currently on maternity leave.
Marnie Nitschke
Marnie is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with ten years’ experience, having worked in the department of Gastroenterology at leading Melbourne Hospitals. She is an active member of the Dietitian’s Association of Australia Gastroenterology Interest Group. She graduated in 1999 with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and has been part of the team at Shepherd Works for
over four years, and has extensive experience in coeliac disease and gastrointestinal nutrition. Marnie works from our Glen Iris rooms.
Meagan Ward
Meagan graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science and post graduate Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics. She has worked for over ten years in many areas of dietetics, including hospital based clinical work, research, and private practice. Her passion is gastrointestinal nutrition and she has a long history working in this area. Meagan works from our Glen Iris practice.
Michelle McPhee
Michelle has worked for many years in the hospital setting, and has been part of the team at Shepherd Works for two years. Michelle graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Science) and Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics from Deakin University and contributes great professional experience to the team and her clients. Michelle works from our Box Hill practice.

Mikaela graduated with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, and has extensive work history with food industry consultation and has recently joined our team. With a strong personal interest in fructose malabsorption, Mikaela offers great practical advice. Mikaela works from our Box Hill practice.
Virginia Fazio
Virginia graduated with a Masters in Science by research and Graduate Diplomas in Dietetics and Education. Virginia has worked for nearly twenty years in many areas of dietetics, including research, food industry consultation and private practice. Virginia works from our Box Hill practice.
Simone Peters
Simone is a clinical hypnotherapist who has coeliac disease herself and holds a particular interest in the psychological aspects of medical conditions involving the gut-brain axis such as, irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac disease, non-coeliac gluten intolerance and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis). Simone has graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Psychophysiology)(Hons) and has recently commenced her PhD research looking into the effects of combining hypnotherapy with the low FODMAP diet in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. Simone works from our Box Hill practice.
